Guiding Principles

Enhancing human-animal connections

Relationships with loved ones aren't always easy. And most relationships benefit from professional support to help improve communication, navigate conflict, and provide tools for fair negotiation. Healthy relationships, even those with animals, are joint accomplishments.

Animals aren't people. But they do have complex emotions, individual lived experience, genetic predispositions, and biological needs that are just as important to acknowledge and respect as our own.

In light of this, the first step in changing behavior must be working to understand why the behavior is occurring in the first place. With this information, we collaborate to develop a practical plan to meet needs, improve communication, and set boundaries.

My methods are rooted in respect and understanding, supported by science, and empower you to have the absolute best relationship possible with your four legged family member.

This isn't just training, this is relationship building.

About Me

My path to animal behavior work wasn't a straight line, but looking back, it was always heading in the same direction.

I spent decades working in human services: supporting children with disabilities, advocating for survivors of sexual assault, and navigating the complexity of child welfare. That work taught me how to meet people in hard moments, build trust across difference, and hold space for the kind of change that doesn't happen overnight.

Eventually I found my way into veterinary medicine, where I discovered that the same skills I'd spent years developing with humans applied just as meaningfully to animals... and to the people who love them.

What I do now feels like a natural evolution of everything that came before it. I bring a background in social work, education, clinical skills, and behavioral science to help animals and the people who love them.

Client Experiences

What our clients are saying

"We learned so much working with Margie! It wasn't the same old "teach commands" type training, she's truly invested in helping you learn how to listen to your dog, notice the subtle cues for how they're feeling, and see how and when you can best communicate with each other. This way, you can be as successful as possible when asking/guiding your dog to do things in tough situations, like at the vet or groomer. Not only is she so knowledgeable, but her patience is endless and she has the perfect personality to help keep things light and fun for both pets and owners. Couldn't recommend her help more!"
